Smita N. Shah

Smita N. Shah is the Founder and CEO of SPAAN Tech, Inc., a role held since 1998. In addition, Smita serves as a member of the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders since February 2022 and as a Board Member for ComEd and InvenTrust Properties Corp. since the same month. Smita is also a Board Member at MacLean-Fogg Company, contributing to the Finance and Audit Committee, and previously held the position of Vice Chairman of the Chicago Plan Commission from 2007 to 2022. Earlier experience includes working as a Structural Engineer at SOM and an intern in the Chief of Staff’s Office at The White House. Smita N. Shah holds a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Management Studies from the University of Oxford, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University, along with a high school diploma from the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools and participation in a summer program at Harvard University in 1990.
