Mieke Paalvast, PhD, is an accomplished Data Scientist with experience at Invest-NL since September 2022 and previously at Always be learning until September 2023. Prior roles include Physics Teacher at Mendelcollege, Data Modeling Specialist at TNO focusing on Sustainable Transport and Logistics, and PHD Candidate at Leiden Observatory, where research culminated in a dissertation on the interplay between stars, gas, and dust in faint star-forming galaxies. Mieke's extensive research work included data analysis, telescope operation, and collaboration in large international teams, alongside teaching astronomy and presenting research at conferences. Earlier experience includes an IT position with Gemeente Amsterdam. Mieke holds a Master of Science in Astronomy and Astrophysics and a Bachelor of Science in Beta-Gamma with a major in Physics, both from the University of Amsterdam.
