Marlé van der Walt has a strong background in finance and has held various leadership roles throughout their career. Marlé began their career at Nedbank in 2002 as the General Manager of Finance & Risk, and later moved on to become the Chief Financial Officer of Retail Banking Services. In 2006, Marlé joined Absa as the Head of Audit for Finance, Risk & Regulatory Compliance. Marlé's most recent experience is with Investec, where they have held multiple roles including Chief Audit Executive and Head of Basel AIRB, Chief Financial Officer of Private Banking and Head of the Basel AIRB Programme, Financial Director of Investec Specialist Bank, and currently holds the position of Financial Director. Marlé has demonstrated a strong track record of strategic leadership and financial expertise throughout their career.
Marlé van der Walt obtained a CA(SA) certification from the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1998. Marlé also holds a B Acc Cum Laude degree in Accounting & Auditing from Stellenbosch University, which they obtained in 1996. In 1997, they completed their B Acc Hons Cum Laude degree in the same field at Stellenbosch University. Marlé van der Walt received an ACI Operations Certificate in Treasury & Trading from The Financial Markets Association in 2011. Marlé further pursued executive education at Harvard Business School, completing the Programme for Leadership Development (PLD15) in 2012-2013 and the Programme for Leadership Development, HBS Alumni in 2015.
