Jim's career began as a Staff Attorney at the Consumer Bankers Association from February 1996 to February 2000. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Emory University and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

The Investment Adviser Association is a not-for-profit organization that exclusively represents the interests of fiduciary investment adviser firms.
