Kent Kirkpatrick started their work experience in 1998 as a Senior Associate in the Real Estate Practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Kent then moved on to Capital Canada Limited in 2001, where they worked as an Associate. In 2004, Kirkpatrick joined Manulife Capital as a Director in Private Equity and Mezzanine. Kent worked there until 2011 when they joined Alberta Teacher's Retirement Fund as the Co-Head of Private Equity. In this role, they oversaw a portfolio of C$2.2B and played a key role in increasing the percentage of direct co-investments. Kirkpatrick then joined Alberta Investment Management Corporation in 2021 as the Director of Private Equity. Currently, they work as a Senior Principal in Private Equity at the Investment Management Corporation of Ontario since 2022.
Kent Kirkpatrick holds an MBA in Finance and Real Estate from the Schulich School of Business - York University. Kent also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics from the University of Waterloo. Additionally, they have certifications including the CFA Institute 20-Year Milestone, ICD.D from the Institute of Corporate Directors, and Chartered Business Valuator from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators. Kent also holds the CFA designation, obtained in 2001.
