Stephen Butler is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in investor communications and ESG. Currently serving as a Policy Committee Member for The Investor Relations Society and an Executive Director at Luminous since August 2012, Stephen oversees investor engagement, ESG initiatives, and leads the insight team, research, thought leadership, and events. With a background in corporate reporting, Stephen has developed creative communications solutions for various clients. Additionally, a lecturer at Nottingham Trent University, Stephen contributes to academia in marketing and branding. Previous roles include an Advisory Panel Member with the Financial Reporting Council and stakeholder communications at Black Sun. Stephen's educational background includes studies in Business Sustainability Management at the University of Cambridge and a Postgraduate Certificate in Corporate Governance and Business Ethics from Birkbeck, University of London, among other qualifications. Currently pursuing a CFA ESG investing certificate, Stephen is dedicated to advancing understanding and practice in sustainability and governance.
The Investor Relations Society
The Investor Relations Society (IR Society) is a membership organisation that exists to develop the investor relations profession in the UK and beyond. It is run by IR professionals for IR professionals. Established in 1980, the IR Society is Europe’s leading professional body for investor relations practitioners. We have over 820 members, including representatives from most of the FTSE 100 and a growing number of FTSE 250, AIM and smaller companies, as well as IR advisers and service providers. In addition 15% of our membership is overseas. Mission statement: The Investor Relations Society’s mission is to promote best practice in investor relations; to support the professional development of its members; to represent their views to regulatory bodies, the investment community and government; and to act as a forum for issuers and the investment community.
