Derek Tan has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several years. Derek is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Invictus Blue, a position they have held since 2023. Before joining Invictus Blue, Derek was the Director of Sales and Marketing, Asia at Keypath Education, where they successfully revamped the sales and marketing funnel, achieving significant cost reductions and improved conversions. Derek's career includes a significant focus on social media. At IPG Mediabrands, they held multiple roles, including Regional Senior Partner for Social Media, APAC, and Executive Director and Director of Social Media for World Markets, Asia. Derek also worked as the Head of Community Strategy at IPG Mediabrands Malaysia.

Derek's early career includes positions at Open University Malaysia, where they served as a Lecturer eMBA, and Vocanic, where they held roles such as Regional Head of Community Management and Analytics & Insights, and Head of Strategy, establishing the practice and office in Kuala Lumpur. Derek was also a founding member of AirAsia's social media team, leading various initiatives.

Before that, Derek worked at Sime Darby Berhad as an Executive in Group Strategy & Business Development, handling projects related to corporate communications.

Additionally, Derek holds a certification from HIGH5TEST in various strengths, including Self Believer, Philomath, Problem Solver, Believer, and Deliverer, which they obtained in 2023.
