Joseph Bruckner has a diverse work experience, beginning with a role as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Washington in 2008. Joseph then worked as a Laboratory Technician at the same institution in 2009. From 2010 to 2017, they held a variety of roles at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, including Postdoctoral Researcher, Fleet Captain for the Hoofer Sailing Club winter snowkiting program, PhD Candidate, and Fleet Instruction Supervisor for the Hoofers Sailing Club winter snowkiting program. During this period, they also worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Zoology 400 Neurobiology Lab. In 2013, they were a Teaching Assistant for the Drosophila Neurobiology course at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. In 2016, they worked as an Independent Consultant at BenchSci. Finally, from 2017 to 2022, they held the role of Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oregon, where they used zebrafish as a model to study how intestinal microbes influence brain development. Since 2022, they have been a Senior Scientist/Scientific Delivery Manager at InVivo Biosystems.
Joseph Bruckner completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Philosophy from Colorado College in 2009. In 2007, they attended The Australian National University for a year of study in Biology and Philosophy. Joseph then went on to pursue their PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which they completed in 2016.
