George Still

George J. Still Jr., is vice chairman and lead independent director at Workday, Inc., having joined the board in 2009. From 1989 to 2013, he was a managing partner at Norwest Venture Partners (NVP). NVP is a global venture capital firm and has funded more than 500 companies since its inception in 1961. George transitioned in 2013 to partner emeritus. George currently manages a small private equity fund, Palo Alto Venture Partners Fund.

Over the last 30-plus years in venture capital, George has directly led investments in 44 companies, serving on the board of directors of more than 30 public and private companies. He was the sole venture investor in PeopleSoft, which grew from a start-up to an S&P 500-listed company, and he was lead investor in Rackspace, Inc. He helped co-found two companies, Verio and Web.com Group. George is a member of the Board of Advisors of Tuck School's Center of Private Equity and Tuck's Board of Overseers. He is a former member of the board of directors of the Lucille Packard Foundation for Children's Health, First Tee of San Francisco and National Venture Capital Association. George also served as an officer on the executive committee of the United States Golf Association. George received his Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania State University and his MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
