James Chan has over a decade of work experience, with a focus on technology startups and venture capital. James is the Founder & CEO of Ion Mobility, where they design and supports EV motorcycles for Southeast Asia. Prior to this, they were the Chairman and Founder & CEO of Silicon Straits, an innovation tribe that makes early-stage investments and supports tech entrepreneurs and startups. James has also served as a Board Member and Co-founder & Principal at Neoteny Labs, where they raised a US$5M early-stage venture fund and invested in internet and open hardware startups. James was the Director (Asia Pacific) and CEO (Asia Pacific) at Wecash, leading the company's expansion into Southeast Asia and South Asia. Additionally, they have held roles at Formlabs, GreyOrange, E14 Fund, Burpple, Neo Innovation, Inc., and IMDA. Throughout their career, James has demonstrated a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a focus on the technology sector.

James Chan completed their education in various institutions over the years. In 1994 to 1997, they attended Raffles Institution, where they obtained their GCE 'O' Level, studying subjects such as English, Higher Chinese, A Math, E Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, and Geography. Following this, they pursued their GCE 'A' Level at the same institution from 1998 to 1999, focusing on Math C, F Math, Physics, and Chemistry.

In 2002, James enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University, where they graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering. James continued their education at Stanford University from 2005 to 2006, obtaining an MSc. degree in Management Science & Engineering.

To enhance their skills in management accounting, James pursued a CIMA Professional Qualification at the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants from 2007 to 2008.
