Nigel Cross

Automotive Systems Engineer at ION Mobility

Nigel Cross has recently joined ION Mobility as an Automotive Systems Engineer in July 2022. Prior to this, they gained significant experience at NUS Formula SAE. At NUS, Nigel worked as the Head of Powertrain Department, leading the integration of old vehicle systems with new systems required for the Electric vehicle. Nigel also designed and implemented safety subsystems for High Voltage, assisted in the implementation of Regenerative Braking, and oversaw the design and manufacturing of the Low Voltage electrical system. Nigel started at NUS as a Junior Electrical Engineer, where they designed and tested a new Power Distribution Module and integrated it with the Engine Control Unit. Nigel also modularized the vehicle's wiring harness and designed PCB enclosures. Prior to this, Nigel worked as an Apprentice, assisting the main team in manufacturing the race car while learning various aspects of it.

Nigel Cross's education history begins with their O-Levels, which they completed at Wesley Methodist School in Kuala Lumpur from 2011 to 2015. Nigel'ssubjects of study during this period included English Language, Malay Language, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

After completing their O-Levels, Nigel enrolled in Singapore Polytechnic from 2016 to 2019, where they pursued a Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Nigel then continued their education at the National University of Singapore from 2019 to 2022, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

In addition to their formal education, Nigel also earned a certification as a Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate in Mechanical Design from Dassault Systèmes in January 2022.
