Senior Optical Engineer at IonQ

Md Shah Alam has a range of experience in the field of optics and engineering. Md Shah started their career as an Assistant Professor at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology, where they instructed courses on electromagnetic fields and waves, as well as microwave circuits. From 2015 to 2020, they worked as a PhD Candidate and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Dayton, focusing on optics, integrated photonics, nanomanufacturing, and computational electromagnetics. During this time, they also served as a Postdoctoral Associate, working on projects related to integrated photonics, tunable orbital angular momentum wave generators, and metalens-assisted photolithography. In 2023, they joined Relative Dynamics Inc. as an Optical Engineer before transitioning to IonQ, where they currently hold the position of Senior Optical Engineer.

Md Shah Alam completed their Bachelor's Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology from 2002 to 2006. Md Shah then pursued a Master's Degree in Nanotechnology from the Asian Institute of Technology from 2011 to 2013. Following that, they enrolled at the University of Dayton from 2015 to 2020, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electro-Optics and Photonics.
