Owen Murphy has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Owen started their career as a MATLAB Tutor at the University of Maryland in 2008. At the same time, they worked as a Test Engineering Student Co-op at Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems in 2009. Following this, they joined Johns Hopkins University as an Undergraduate Researcher from 2008 to 2010. In 2010, Owen Murphy worked as an Electronic Design Engineer at X-Laser before moving on to Image Engineering as the Lead Electrical Engineer from 2012 to 2016. Owen then worked as an Electronics Engineer at Thorlabs from 2016 to 2019. Owen Murphy joined Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. as a Project Engineer in 2019. Currently, they are working at IonQ Inc. as a Hardware Design Engineer starting from January 2020.

Owen Murphy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland - A. James Clark School of Engineering, completing their education from 2006 to 2010.
