Mike Prendergast has extensive work experience in the field of software engineering. Mike currently holds the role of Vice President / Sr. Principal SW Engineer at iota IT, where they are responsible for developing microservices in AWS using various technologies such as React, Redux, Node.js, and Spring. Mike is also involved in integrating with an external OAuth2 authorization provider for single sign-on and configuring and testing AWS EMR big data solutions.
Prior to their current role, Mike worked as a Sr. Software Developer at Raytheon Henggeler Consulting. Here, they were involved in the development of a mobile web application using technologies such as jQueryMobile, jQuery, CSS3, HTML5, and WURFL. Mike also worked on enhancing an existing BlackBerry native application and utilized technologies like Spring MVC, Jackson JSON, Prototype, TinyMCE, Tomcat/Weblogic, and Apache Tiles.
Before that, Mike served as a Sr. Software Engineer/Developer at Pyxis Engineering, An Applied Signal Technology, Inc. Company. Here, they played a key role in developing a Ruby on Rails web application to replace a legacy desktop application. Mike also managed and maintained web applications and databases for bug and issue tracking, as well as an Enterprise Repository web application for code and asset reuse. Additionally, they worked as an Oracle (BEA) Senior WebLogic Consultant, assisting in deploying new Oracle/BEA COTS products across multiple programs.
Furthermore, Mike worked as a Software Engineer II at Harris Corporation GCSD, where they developed J2EE web applications that integrated mapping/imagery data from various services into a single web interface. Mike was also involved in installing and configuring J2EE application servers and Java Servlet containers and designing and deploying a catalogue web service in line with the OGC CSW specification.
Mike's work experience also includes a role as a Software Engineer at The RoviSys Company.
Mike Prendergast received their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science & Engineering from The Ohio State University, where they studied from 1997 to 2002. In addition, they obtained the AWS Certified Developer – Associate Level certification from Amazon Web Services in October 2014.
