Amir Abushamaa

Amir Abushamaa has over 20 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Amir is currently serving as the Senior Director, Field Medical Affairs at Iovance Biotherapeutics, Inc. Prior to their current role, they worked as the National Medical Science Liaison at Tocagen Inc. and as the Scientific Director, Oncology Global Medical Affairs at AbbVie. Amir also has experience as a Medical Science Liaison and Interim National Director of Field Medical Affairs at Otsuka Pharmaceutical Companies (U.S.), a Medical Science Liaison at Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a Medical Science Liaison at Pharmion, and a Scientific Affairs Manager at Abbott. Before transitioning to the industry, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Duke University.

Amir Abushamaa pursued their education with a keen interest in the field of science. Starting in the year 1984, they attended Alexandria University for a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. With a strong foundation in the subject, they completed their undergraduate education in 1988.

Driven by a passion for further knowledge, Amir sought to deepen their understanding in the field of Biomedical Science. Thus, from 1990 to 1996, they enrolled at Northeastern University, where they embarked on a Ph.D. program. Throughout this period, they diligently worked towards enhancing their expertise in biomedical science.
