Shannan Garretson

Shannan Garretson is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in environmental management and military leadership. Currently serving as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader and Master Chief Petty Officer at the U.S. Coast Guard since September 2000, Shannan also holds the position of Environmental Program Manager and Specialist for the Iowa Army National Guard since March 2015. Additional roles include the International Green Builder Certification Board member at Green Advantage, Inc., and former State Environmental Specialist for Iowa Air National Guard 132D Wing. Previous experience includes positions as an Environmental Scientist at Barker Lemar Engineering Consultants, Water Program Legal Analyst at the Iowa Environmental Council, Hydrologic Technician at the United States Geological Survey, and GIS Technician Assistant at the Iowa Geological Survey. Shannan holds a Master of Public Administration degree in Organizational Leadership from Waldorf University and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a focus on Hydroscience from the University of Iowa.
