Josie Fischels has had a diverse range of work experience in journalism and writing. Josie began their career as a Summer Newsdesk Intern for NPR in 2021, where they covered various topics and assisted with live coverage of significant events such as the Kabul takeover and the Tokyo Olympics. Josie also worked as a Projects Editor and Managing Editor at The Daily Iowan, where they managed a team of over 100 staff members, made editorial decisions, and developed long-form journalistic pieces. Additionally, Josie served as an Arts Editor and Summer Editor at The Daily Iowan, where they made significant changes to the arts section and managed a summer staff. Josie also worked as a Digital News Producer at Iowa Public Radio and as a Writing Fellow at the University of Iowa, where they served as a peer tutor and worked closely with professors to improve student writing. Overall, Josie has demonstrated their strong skills in writing, editing, and leadership throughout their various roles in the journalism field.

Josie Fischels attended the University of Iowa from 2018 to 2022. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Iowa School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Additionally, they simultaneously pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Theatre Arts at the University of Iowa.
