Jan Jaferian

Jan Jaferian is the Senior Advisor at ipCapital Group. Jan has over two decades of experience in intellectual property and technology licensing.

Jan began their career at Amoco Chemical Corp in 1994, where they led worldwide licensing programs based on a broad petrochemical patent and technology / know-how portfolio. Jan was responsible for managing a team of technically and legally astute licensing professionals. Jan personally negotiated or mentored other negotiators to achieve significant revenue increase.

In 2009, Jan joined Welbilt Inc. (formerly Manitowoc Foodservice) as Vice President Intellectual Property. In this role, they designed the intellectual property organization for comprehensive management of intellectual assets for product protection and value generation. Jan was successful in doubling the size of a competitive, cost-effective patent portfolio. Jan also managed outside counsel firms in the US, Germany and UK. In addition, Jan was awarded two President's Award for Innovation in the fields of oil quality sensing and ergonomics.

Most recently, Jan served as Senior Vice President, Intellectual Property at UTEK Corporation from 2007 to 2008.

Jan holds a Global Patentee designation and is highly respected in the intellectual property community. Jan is a thought leader in the field and their experience includes working with companies of all sizes, from start-ups to large multinational corporations.

Jan Jaferian has a Ph.D. in Decision Analytics and Organization Behavior from Harvard Business School. Jan also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology and Art Jan'story from University of New Hampshire. In addition, Jan has an MBA in Organization Behavior and Finance from UNH Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics. Lastly, Jan has a certification from the Licensing Executives Society And CLP Inc. in Certified Licensing Professional.
