R. Cortland Tompkins has extensive work experience in the field of technology and computer vision. R. Cortland is currently working as the Chief Technology Officer at IPConfigure Inc. since June 2021. Prior to this role, they served as the Vice President of Engineering at the same company from January 2013 to June 2021. R. Cortland also held the position of Director of Computer Vision at IPConfigure Inc., where they led a team of electrical engineers in developing the video surveillance industry's first license plate recognition system and the Gigapixel Wide Area Surveillance (GWAS) software product. Before joining IPConfigure Inc., Cortland Tompkins worked as a Computer Vision Engineer at the company from 2009 to 2011.
In addition to their corporate experience, Tompkins has also gained research experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Dayton from March 2010 to August 2011 and as a Graduate Research Assistant at Old Dominion University from 2004 to 2009.
R. Cortland Tompkins began their education at Old Dominion University in the year 2000, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. R. Cortland completed their undergraduate studies in the year 2004. Subsequently, they continued their academic journey at Old Dominion University, achieving a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from 2005 to 2010. Following this, they attended the University of Dayton from 2010 to 2011, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
