About the position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day to day general accounting function. The ideal candidate will ensure the completion of ledger accounts, financial statements, and taxes, evaluate and make appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes, ensure that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization and generally accepted accounting principles, and have a willingness to perform various functions within the accounting realm. The Accounting Manager will lead and direct accounting personnel and report directly to the COO.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the work and development of accounting staff members
  • Monitor and enforce financial policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Responsible for analysis and auditing of the books
  • Ensure tax and regulatory/compliance issues over multiple states
  • Responsible for all aspects of payroll, including preparing payroll, employee expense report tracking, and vacation/personal time tracking.
  • Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential
  • Responsible for providing financial updates to the owners
  • Oversee two direct reports
  • Contribute to decisions regarding financial strategy
  • Other duties assigned as necessary

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 5+years corporate finance or progressive experience working in an accounting role
  • Intermediate to advanced applications software expertise: Excel and QuickBooks
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Diligent with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to meet and establish deadlines
  • Excellent understanding of multi-state issues
  • Experience with sales tax over multiple states
  • Flexibility and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with processing payroll, preferably in QuickBooks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience supervising others is a plus
