Zafar Samadov

Zafar Samadov is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the renewable energy sector and engineering. Currently serving as a Program Officer at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) since March 2022, Zafar previously held positions as a Senior Engineer at IMDC from December 2017 to January 2022, and as a Senior Consultant and Senior Advisor at Bernard Energy Advocacy and Friends of the Supergrid (FOSG) from April 2016 to September 2017. Zafar also contributed as a Senior Expert at the International Energy Charter from February 2009 to July 2015, and as a Senior Programme Officer at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs from 2006 to 2009. Early career experience includes serving as a Project Engineer for the US Overseas Building Operation Department from 2003 to 2006. Zafar holds a Master’s Degree in International Construction Management and Engineering from the University of Leeds and a BSc in Civil and Industrial Engineering from the Technical University of Osemi.
