Charles Ortiz serves as Associate Director and Area Manager of Collaborative and Conversational Systems at PARC since February 2020, following a tenure as Senior Director at Samsung Research America, where Charles led the Dialogue and Knowledge Lab. Ortiz's extensive experience includes directing the Nuance AI and Language Lab, focusing on advancing AI technologies for conversational assistants, and overseeing multi-agent and multi-robot systems research at SRI International. Academic contributions include roles as Visiting Scholar at Stanford University and Adjunct Professor at UC Berkeley. Ortiz holds a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.S. in Computer Science from Columbia University, and an S.B. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
