Erik Amaral has a diverse work experience in engineering and robotics. Erik started their career at FM Global as an Appraisal Services Intern in 2011. Later, they joined iRobot, where they held various roles including Mechanical/Robotics Engineer Intern, Robotics Engineer, Senior Robotics Engineer, and currently serves as the Principal Mechanical Engineer. At iRobot, they contributed to the development of a low-cost robotic arm as part of DARPA's ARM-H program, focusing on motor selection, actuation, bearing support systems, gear train design, and material selection. Erik's research and calculations are known for being detailed and well-documented.
Erik Amaral attended the Wentworth Institute of Technology from 2008 to 2013, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electromechanical Engineering.
