Jules Caron has had a diverse work experience, starting as a Programmatic Intern at OSCE in 2008. They then worked as a Journalist at Kyodo News International and AFP, reporting on humanitarian responses and human rights issues at the United Nations. Jules also served as Secretary for the Association of Accredited Correspondents at the United Nations, improving media communications activities and organizing press events.
In 2012, Jules joined WWF International as the Head of Campaign Communications for the Central Africa region, where they planned and implemented a campaign against poaching and illegal wildlife trade in the Congo Basin. They achieved success by pressuring authorities to arrest and prosecute individuals involved in such activities.
Jules later worked as the Advocacy and Communications Manager at Oxfam, building and managing a team while successfully campaigning for gender parity in the Central African Republic. They also ensured the widespread visibility of Oxfam CAR through various advocacy and communications materials related to food security, access to water, protection, and gender equality.
In 2015, Jules joined Global Witness as a Campaigner, focusing on investigating and campaigning against illegal logging in the Democratic Republic of Congo. They co-authored a significant investigation exposing the illegal practices of a logging company operating in the Congo Basin and its support by various governments.
In 2019, Jules started working at Project Canopy, a non-profit organization that focuses on environmental intelligence for the Congo Basin rainforest. They co-founded and directed the organization, centralizing data to identify threats and conservation opportunities for decision-makers.
Currently, Jules is the CEO and Co-Founder of Iroko Analytics, a Techstars portfolio company. They develop carbon and biodiversity offset projects in the Congo Basin, utilizing satellite monitoring technology, deep networks in the region, and innovative financial models to contribute to net-zero commitments of ESG funds and Fortune 500 companies.
Throughout their work experience, Jules has demonstrated a deep commitment to environmental conservation and advocacy in the Congo Basin rainforest.
Jules Caron attended the University of Geneva from 2000 to 2007, where they pursued a Master's degree in Political Science.
