Fernando Maymi

Chief Information Security Officer at IronNet

Fernando Maymí is the Chief Information Security Officer at IronNet, Inc. As CISO, he leads cybersecurity operations, governance, risk management, and compliance for the company.

Prior to assuming his current position, Fernando headed training and professional services at IronNet, where he was responsible for developing cyber talent for the company, its partners, and customers. In addition, he led internal teams providing strategic consultancy, security assessments, red teaming, and cybersecurity exercises around the world. Before joining IronNet, he was the lead scientist of advanced research and development projects focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity at Soar Technologies.

Fernando is one of the founders and the first Deputy Director of the Army Cyber Institute at West Point, the Army’s think tank for strategic issues in cyberspace. This role capped a 25-year career in the U.S. Army, much of which was spent teaching and researching cybersecurity issues at the U.S. Military Academy.

Fernando holds a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Sciences and Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, a M.S. in Computer Science from the Naval Postgraduate School, and B.S. in Computer Science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. His publications include the CISSP All-in-One Exam Guide and the Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) All-in-One Exam Guide.
