Morgan Karns is an Island Fellow at the Island Institute since August 2023, previously holding a Research Fellowship at the Virginia Tech Office of Undergraduate Research from May 2022 to May 2023. During this fellowship, Morgan conducted a qualitative analysis focusing on the experiences of disabled birders and managed survey data processing. Morgan served as President of the Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society at Virginia Tech and contributed to shark conservation efforts as a Research Assistant while also serving as an Ambassador and Teaching Assistant in the College of Natural Resources and Environment. Additional roles include Alumni Ambassador and Peer Mentor for The School for Field Studies, Women's Advocacy Chairwoman for Sigma Kappa Sorority, and Marketing Director at Synapse at Virginia Tech. An internship with the Virginia Outdoors Foundation involved genealogical research, while experience at Key Title included proofreading property titles. Morgan holds an Advanced Diploma from Fauquier High School and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2023.
