In October 2016, she represented the ACCE by presenting the clinical engineering perspective at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s workshop on the servicing of medical equipment. She is also involved in the AAMI Benchmarking task force, the MITA (Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance) committee to develop standards for service of imaging equipment, and other initiatives to develop industry standards.

Barbara resides in central New Jersey with her husband, Drew, and their two children. Together they enjoy all types of sports, including skiing, swimming and biking, as well as travelling to remote places where there is no internet, such as the Grand Canyon and Galapagos. Barbara also enjoys training and racing in triathlons and has completed the Lake Placid Iron Man. The time spent training for these races provides a great opportunity to reflect and think, and it is during these times that she comes up with her best ideas for life and work!
