Andrea Montanino

Andrea Montanino is currently Chairman, Fondo Italiano d’Investimento and Chief Economist, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti. He previously held several positions, in Italy and abroad. In Washington D.C. he acted (2012 – 2014) as Executive Director and board member of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and (2014-2017) as director of the Global Business and Economics Program at the Atlantic Council. In Brussels, he spent four years (2001-2005) at the European Commission in the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs. In Italy, he served as Chief economist of Confindustria (2017-2019), as Director General at the Ministry of Economy and Finance and as economic adviser of the Italian Finance Minister Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa (2006-2012). He is currently a member of several organizations, including the Chief Economists Community of the World Economic Forum, the Atlantic Council, the Luiss School of European Policies, the General Assembly of AIFI, the Fondazione Economia “Tor Vergata”, the Economic Council of the Diocesi di Roma.

Montanino graduated summa cum laude in economics from the University of Rome, La Sapienza, in 1992. He holds a MSc from the London School of Economics and a PhD in economics from the University of Rome, La Sapienza.
