Rick Brown

CISO at IT Cadre

Rick Brown is the Director of Strategic Cybersecurity at IT Cadre. He leads Visualization Engineering projects in support of IT Cadre's customers to help them become more effective, efficient, and secure. Rick takes a customer through a fast-paced journey where they gain a better understanding of their information technology (IT) and operating environments, as well as their risks to mission, program, and cybersecurity. Then, Rick works with the customer to agree and commit to a strategic plan to address those risks. Rick also represents IT Cadre in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Cybersecurity Program.

Prior to joining IT Cadre in 2015, Rick worked for Innovative Decisions, Inc. (IDI) as a Principal Analyst after serving 21 years in the Army in a variety of specialties including Signal Corps, Airborne Infantry, Operations Research, and Program Management. Rick has over 26 years of experience leading technical and risk management teams and projects. He has directly advised senior government and industry leaders on technology projects and operations since 2006. He has operational experience in culturally diverse areas including Afghanistan, Iraq, and Korea.

Rick is active outside of the workplace and enjoys representing IT Cadre in fitness events supporting the community. He also stays very busy with events surrounding his children. Rick is helping grow the next generation of cybersecurity professionals by serving as an Adjunct Professor at Marymount University teaching graduate cybersecurity courses.

Rick attended Indiana University on a four-year Army ROTC scholarship where he earned Bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Business Management. He holds Master's degrees in Information Security and Assurance (George Mason University) and Operations Research (Georgia Institute of Technology). He is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and has earned the Certification in Risk and Information System Controls (CRISC).
