Nakisha Hobbs has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Nakisha is currently the Chief Executive Officer at It Takes A Village Family of Schools since May 2021. Prior to that, they worked as the Associate Director, Office of Early Childhood at the Illinois Department of Human Services from July 2018 to December 2019. From June 2006 to July 2018, they were the Principal & Co-Founder of Village Leadership Academy. Nakisha also had a role at It Takes A Village Early Learning Centers from May 2004 to July 2018. Additionally, they worked as an Academic Advisor at the University of Illinois at Chicago from September 2003 to June 2004.

Nakisha Hobbs holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Early Childhood Education from Roosevelt University, which they completed from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, they were a graduate student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Illinois Chicago from 2001 to 2004. Nakisha also earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in African American Studies from the University of Illinois Chicago, which they completed from 1997 to 2001.
