Chris Barnett has worked in over 20 countries across Africa and Asia. He has led a number of high-profile assignments including the five-year impact evaluation of the Millennium Villages Project in Ghana, the verification of two global water supply and sanitation programmes for the UK Department for International Development, and, the ten-year study of the CDC Group’s mobilisation of private capital.
Chris has expertise in evaluation design, particularly in the fields of investment, research impact, livelihoods, civil society and governance.
His current research interests include innovative ways to evaluate impact and causality, power imbalances and ethics and assessing the social impact of private and blended investments.
Chris provides senior leadership for Itad’s Knowledge Hub. He is an Honorary Associate at the Institute of Development Studies and was the founding Director of the Centre for Development Impact. He holds a doctorate from the University of Sussex.
