Ioana Berindan-Neagoe currently serves as a Professor of Medical Biotechnology and the Director of the Research Center for Functional Genomics Biomedicine and Translational Medicine at "Iuliu Hatieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Cluj-Napoca since May 2010. Previously, Ioana held the position of Head of the Experimental Pathology Department at The Oncology Institute Ion Chiricuta until February 2021 and directed the Research Development and Innovation Department from May 2012 to July 2020. Additional roles include directorship at the Research Center for Functional Genomics, Biomedicine, and Translational Medicine at UMF Iuliu H between April 2010 and July 2020, and a visiting professorship at MD Anderson Cancer Center between 2014 and 2016. As a Fulbright Fellow from August 2014 to August 2015, Ioana undertook senior scholar teaching and research. Ioana holds a Ph.D. in immunology, molecular biology, cancer, and genomics.
