Michel Lalande

Chairman of the Board at Ivanhoé Cambridge

As Senior Vice-President, Legal Affairs and Secretariat, Michel Lalande is responsible for managing all of the Caisse's legal and regulatory activities. He plays a leading role in supporting the organization and its subsidiaries on legal, regulatory, ethical and compliance issues affecting investments and operations in Quebec and elsewhere in the world. In addition, he is responsible for the Secretariat, which oversees the application of best governance practices, and provides advisory services in this regard to the Board of Directors and various Caisse committees. He is a member of the management committee.

Mr. Lalande has more than 30 years of experience as a lawyer and executive, and has distinguished himself as a leader and team builder. Before joining la Caisse in January 2021, he worked for 20 years in legal positions at BCE and Bell Canada, including that of Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary. Previously, he worked at Teleglobe as Director of Legal Affairs, a role that allowed him to participate in several international transactions, partnerships and financings. He began his career at Fasken Martineau, where he worked for 7 years in corporate mergers and acquisitions and securities.

He holds a law degree from the Université de Montréal and is a member of the Barreau du Québec.

Mr. Lalande has served on the boards of directors of Glentel, Quantrics and BCE Capital. He has also been actively involved with various community organizations, including Centraide of Greater Montreal and Avocats sans frontières.

Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including Lexpert's Top 40 Under 40. He was also named Chief Legal Officer of the Year in Quebec, in addition to being a finalist several times at the Canadian General Counsel Awards. Under his leadership, BCE won several governance awards in Canada and the United States.
