Craig Gilchrist

Advisory Board Member at Ivey Business School

Mr. Gilchrist is currently Vice Chairman and Head of the Global Family Office Group within Scotiabank. Mr. Gilchrist is responsible for relationship development with Scotiabank’s ultra-high net worth and family office clients globally. Prior to his current role, he was Head of ScotiaMcLeod, Scotia Wealth Management’s high-net-worth investment advisory arm. In this role, he was responsible for leading a team of over 1,700 professionals across Canada who manage in excess of C$145 billion in assets under administration.

Prior to ScotiaMcLeod, Mr. Gilchrist was Chief Investment Officer, Scotia Wealth Management, where he was responsible for the management of all investment operations, including the Global Portfolio Advisory Group, Investment Solutions, and Centralized Investment Management. Mr. Gilchrist also served as Co-Head of Scotiabank’s Global Equity Sales & Trading business, where he was responsible for a team of more than 60 professionals spanning Canada, the U.S., Europe and Asia. He has also led the bank’s Absolute Return/Arbitrage Group, Canadian Equity Sales, and Canadian Equity Sales & Trading groups.

Mr. Gilchrist first joined Scotiabank in 2009 as head of a newly formed sales and trading group focused on structuring comprehensive event-driven and arbitrage trading strategies. After receiving his Honors Business Administration (HBA) degree from the University of Western Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business, Mr. Gilchrist spent the early part of his career as a member of the Investment Banking teams at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Merrill Lynch Canada where he specialized in various corporate finance and M&A transactions. From there, he went on to become a Director, Hedge Fund Sales & Risk Arbitrage at Merrill Lynch Canada and Managing Director with BMO Capital Markets before moving to Scotiabank.

Mr. Gilchrist is also a Board Member of 1832 Asset Management and the Ivey Business School Foundation.
