Shwetal Mehta has a diverse and extensive work experience in various organizations. Starting in 1995, Shwetal worked at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research as a student and scientific assistant. Following that, from 1998 to 2003, Shwetal served as a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin. In 2005, Shwetal joined the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as a postdoc, later becoming a research scientist and visiting scientist until 2012.

In 2013, Shwetal took on roles at both Arizona State University as an adjunct faculty member and at the Barrow Neurological Institute as an assistant professor. At the Barrow Neurological Institute, Shwetal eventually became an associate professor until 2018. Simultaneously, Shwetal also worked as an associate professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix starting in 2018.

Shwetal's most recent roles include serving as the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer at the Ivy Brain Tumor Center since 2018 and as a research associate professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix since 2019.

Shwetal Mehta earned a Ph.D in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology from The University of Texas at Austin from 1998 to 2003. Prior to that, they obtained a MSc in Molecular Biology from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research from 1995 to 1998. In their undergraduate studies, Shwetal Mehta attended University of Mumbai where they earned a BSC degree in Microbiology and Biochemistry from 1992 to 1994. Their earlier education includes attending Mount Mary High School from 1978 to 1989.
