Paul Gabriel's work experience includes various roles in product management and data analysis. Paul began their career as a Political Risk Analyst intern at Berlin Risk Institute in 2009. Paul then worked as a Political Risk Analyst intern at Olive Group in 2010. Later that year, they joined the European Commission's Joint Research Centre as an Open Source Intelligence Analyst. In 2011, they became a Senior Political Risk Analyst at Verisk Maplecroft, where they provided analysis and professional services to global corporations and governmental organizations. In 2013, they joined Control Risks as an Associate Analyst and gradually moved up to the position of Senior Analyst, overseeing a team of analysts and gaining experience in working with clients across sectors and jurisdictions. In 2017, they founded Black Merlin. Paul then transitioned to iwoca in 2018 as a Product Manager and eventually became the Head of Product, leading the team in developing and executing the product strategy for iwoca Germany. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated their expertise in product management, data analysis, and risk assessment.

Paul Gabriel has a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in International Conflict Studies from King's College London, which they obtained in 2010. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science from The University of Freiburg in 2009. Their education history also includes completing their Abitur in Mathematics and Physics from Johann-Gottfried-Seume Gymnasium Vacha in 2005.
