Mike Kent

Mike Kent has extensive work experience in law enforcement. Mike began their career in 2000 with the Amherst Police Department, where they served as a Police Captain and managed a team of 49 officers. During their tenure, they oversaw patrol operations, investigations, and traffic and parking activities. In 2010, Mike joined the Burlington (MA) Police Department as the Police Chief, a role they held until 2021. As the Police Chief, they managed a team of 68 full-time officers, 20 special police officers, and 8 civilians. Mike also handled the responsibilities of managing a community of 25,000 residents with various businesses and high-tech industries. In 2021, Mike transitioned to the role of Director of Managed Services at IXP Corporation.

Mike Kent has an extensive education history in the field of law enforcement and counter-terrorism. Mike holds a Master's degree in Criminal Justice and Corrections from Western New England University, which they obtained in 1997. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement from the same university in 1996.

In 2000, Mike completed a post-graduate certificate in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from the FBI National Academy session #202. Mike also attended the Senior Management Institute for Police session #34 in 2006, where they received a certificate in Police Executive Management.

Mike's education journey continued with various leadership programs. In 2012, they earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Suffolk University - Sawyer Business School. During the same year, they acquired a certificate in Law Enforcement Management from the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar session #71.

Their pursuit of knowledge in counter-terrorism led him to attend the Anti-Defamation League Counter-Terrorism Seminar in 2016. Lastly, in 2018, Mike undertook Executive Education at Harvard University, focusing on the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative.

Overall, Mike Kent has consistently pursued educational opportunities to enhance their expertise in law enforcement, counter-terrorism, and leadership.
