Marilyn Ahrens has extensive experience in linguistics and education, currently serving as the Assisting Regional Center Manager at SIL International since January 2011 while beginning a new assignment in Papua New Guinea with husband Gene Ahrens. Since 1998, Marilyn has also worked as a Museum Guide at JAARS, Inc. Prior to their current roles, Marilyn was a Linguist at SIL International from April 1976 to May 1997, focusing on the study of Sranan Tongo, a creole language in Suriname, South America. Marilyn holds a BA in Elementary Education with a focus on English from Calvin University (1972-1973), and has pursued studies at Western Michigan University (1971-1972) and Cornerstone University (1969-1971).
