Earl Burke has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Earl is currently serving as the Chief Operations Officer at Jackson Public Schools. In this role, they provide executive leadership in finance and operations, aligning resources with organizational goals. Previously, Earl worked as a 6th Grade Teacher at the same school, where they supervised and supported students' educational progress.
Prior to their work in education, Earl was a Managing Consultant at Methodology Group, LLC. Earl also served as a Client Success Advisor at PSST Seamless Data Solutions, leveraging their K-12 district administrative experience to advise school districts on their back-office operations.
Earlier in their career, Earl held multiple roles at Hinds County School District, including Assistant Superintendent of Business Services and Operations & CFO. Earl demonstrated expertise in financial and operational performance improvement and was recognized as the Outstanding School Business Official of the Year in 2015. Earl also served as the Director of Business Services and Operations & CFO and School District Business Administrator at the same district, overseeing accounting activities and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Additionally, Earl has worked as a Property Specialist and Terry High School Business Manager at Hinds County School District. Earl started their career as a Career Center Assistant and later became a Student Residence Counselor at The Piney Woods School.
Parallel to their professional endeavors, Earl has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Belhaven University.
Earl Burke is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General at Mississippi College, with an expected completion date of 2022. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Jackson State University in 2006. In 2000, they completed a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree at Belhaven University. Earl Burke's education journey started in 1986 when they earned a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from The University of Southern Mississippi, which they completed in 1989.
In addition to their degrees, Earl Burke holds several certifications. In 2001, they obtained the Certified Professional Property Specialist (CPPS) certification from the National Property Management Association, followed by the Certified Professional Property Administrator (CPPA) certification in 2002. Earl also holds the Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations (SFO) certification awarded by the Association of School Business Officials International in 2017. Most recently, Earl Burke obtained multiple 5-Year-MAT-Master of Arts in Teaching Endorsements from the State of Mississippi - State Board of Education in 2021, including Business Education (7-12), English (7-12), and Social Studies (7-12). Earl also received the Business Administrator Standard Endorsement: 420 - School District Business Administrator from the State Board of Education in 2022.
