Ranella Howard Anderson started their work experience in 2001 at RTH Productions, LLC as a Photographer. In 2005, they moved on to Entergy, where they worked as a Customer Service Representative until August 2006. Later that year, in August 2006, they joined Jackson Public Schools as a Mathematics and Physics Teacher.

Ranella Howard Anderson is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computational Data Enabled Sciences and Engineering, with a focus on Mathematics and Statistics, at Jackson State University. Ranella began their PhD program in 2017 and is still in progress.

Prior to that, they earned a Master's degree in Secondary Education and Mathematics from Jackson State University in the years 2008-2010. Before their Master's degree, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Physics and Mathematics from Tougaloo College, where they studied from 2001 to 2005.

Their education journey started at Jim Hill High School, where they completed their high school education and received a High School Diploma with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in the year 2001.

In addition to their formal education, Ranella has obtained several certifications. Ranella obtained certifications in Nanotechnology, Remote Contact Tracing, and Social and Behavioral Responsible Conduct of Research from the CITI Program in December 2020. Ranella also completed the Zoom Academy Summer 2020 School Leaders & Staff Assessment and Teacher/Educator Assessment from Zoom in July 2020. Furthermore, they acquired the Microsoft Innovative Educator certification from Microsoft in April 2014.

Ranella has teaching certifications as well. Ranella is certified as an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program teacher for Mathematics grades 9-10, as well as an International Baccalaureate Diploma Program teacher for Mathematics grades 11-12. Ranella also holds Educator's Licenses in Mathematics 9-12 and Physics 9-12, both obtained from the Mississippi State Department of Education in August 2006.
