Duncan Scott has a varied work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Duncan began their career as a Quality Assurance Analyst at InfoPharm, where they processed pharmaceutical data, produced reports, and automated manual processes. Duncan then joined Experian as a QA & Test Engineer, progressing to the role of Senior QA & Test Engineer and ultimately becoming a Test Automation Specialist. In this role, they were responsible for automation and provided consulting, training, and mentoring to other automation specialists in global offices.
After their time at Experian, Duncan joined Microsoft as a Software Development Engineer in Test II, working on Skype for Xbox. Duncan contributed to the successful release of the app for Xbox One v1 console launch, despite challenges such as working on a moving platform and transitioning the team from C# to JavaScript. Duncan later transitioned to the role of Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft's BotStudios, where they researched and released multiple Skype bots, and played a key role in developing the initial version of the Bot Framework used by the Cortana team.
Duncan's next move was to Amazon UK, where they joined as a Senior Software Engineer in the Alexa Shopping team. Duncan led multiple complex projects in areas like web, backend services, and machine learning, delivering high-quality results with no major bugs. Duncan also played a key role in setting up a full CI/CD system.
Most recently, Duncan joined Jagex as a Principal Engineer, bringing their extensive experience and expertise to this new role.
Duncan Scott completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Nottingham, where they obtained a MSci degree in Chemistry. Duncan attended the university from 1997 to 2001.
