Karen Checkoway

Karen Checkoway is an experienced editor and content strategist currently working at Jama Software since February 2020, focusing on editing, writing, content strategy, and terminology management. Prior to this role, Karen served as Principal Editor at McAfee for two decades, where responsibilities included content strategy governance, writer training, and editing for global teams. Karen also held positions as Global Editor at both McAfee and Intel Security, leading efforts in style and quality best practices and liaising with the legal department. Earlier in the career, Karen designed books for small literary publishers, and worked as a technical writer and trainer for several technology companies, including Tektronix and Sequent Computer Systems. Karen holds a BS in English, Psychology, and Recreational Therapy from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, alongside additional certifications in technical editing and content governance.
