Gert de Vos

Chief Engineer at Jan De Nul Group

Gert de Vos has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Gert started their career as a Ships Mechanic at Rijkswerf in 1987 and then worked as a Fireman/Rescue Diver at Korps Marine Brandweer for 12 years. In 1990, they became a Freelance Diver for RUTH BV and continued in this role until 1996. Gert also worked as a Freelance Fireman at Onstream Den Helder from 1994 to 1995.

In 2001, they joined Van Oord as a 2e Engineer and worked there for a year. Gert then moved to Jan De Nul in 2002 and held the position of 2e/1e Engineer until 2006. At Jan De Nul, Gert progressed to the role of Chief Engineer and was responsible for maintaining and operating dredging vessels worldwide, with a specialization in cutter suction dredgers.

Gert's extensive work experience showcases their expertise in engineering, diving, firefighting, and ship mechanics, making him a valuable asset in multiple industries.

Gert de Vos has a diverse education history. Gert first attended De Suylen from 1979 to 1983, where they focused on studying mechanical engineering. Afterwards, they enrolled at S.O.M from 1983 to 1986 and pursued mechanical engineering without obtaining a degree. During the same period, they also attended the Technical School Royal Dutch Navy, where they earned an MBO degree in mechanical engineering. Gert then attended the National Diving Centre in 1995 and obtained a Category A Professional Diver Certificate. Later on, they studied maritime engineering at STC Rotterdam from 2008 to 2010, earning an MBO/HBO degree in the field.
