Richard Thanki

Richard Thanki is the Managing Director, Head of Technology, and a Founder of Jangala, a UK-based not-for-profit technology start-up focused on providing internet access to those affected by disasters since January 2018. Prior to this role, Richard Thanki worked as a consultant from September 2012 to May 2017, providing telecommunications policy expertise to clients such as Microsoft and Google. Richard Thanki also served as a Research Project Manager at ECS Partners, University of Southampton, where efforts were made to analyze the social and economic impacts of affordable internet initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa. Earlier career experience includes positions as a Consultant at Perspective Associates and as a Senior Associate at Ofcom. Richard Thanki holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Southampton and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford.
