Dr. Shu Fukuya currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Strategic Research department at the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) since July 2023, having previously held the position of Deputy Director at JBIC from July 2020 to January 2022, during which a significant financing project for Mitsubishi Corp. was initiated. Prior to this, Dr. Fukuya worked as a Section Chief at the Ministry of Finance - Japan from July 2018 to July 2020, where the largest grant contribution to the International Development Association was achieved and strategic responses to the COVID-19 pandemic were formulated. Between April 2011 and August 2017, Dr. Fukuya contributed to JBIC’s Country Credit Department and Power and Water Finance Department, focusing on risk analysis and policy-based finance, particularly in the Asia and Americas regions. Dr. Fukuya's educational background includes a Doctor's Degree in International Relations and Affairs from Johns Hopkins SAIS, a Master of Arts in International Economics from Yale University, and dual Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Waseda University in International Relations and Materials and Engineering.
