Joshua Tobias was first nominated to the JARC Board of Directors in June 2010. During a 9-year stint on the Board, Tobias was active in supporting the non-profit in a variety of ways, including a three-year term as Vice President. For JARC’s 50th anniversary event in 2019 featuring the band Earth, Wind, and Fire, Tobias was active in recruiting event sponsorship. Through the work of the entire board of directors and the JARC team, the 50th-anniversary event was the most financially successful fundraiser in JARC’s history. In June 2020, Tobias was named President-Elect of JARC’s Board of Directors. On June 3, 2021, the Board of Directors officially named Tobias to the position of President and Chairman of the Board of Directors where he will lead the Board of Directors and serve as a link with JARC’s upper management. Tobias earned his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1996. Before accepting his current position in 2009 as Funeral Director of the Ira Kaufman Chapel in Southfield, Mich., Tobias worked in the mortgage business for 10 years, seven of which were spent at Flagstar Bank in Troy, Mich. Tobias also serves on the Board of Trustees at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Mich., where his grandparents were founders. He is also on the finance committee for Frankel Jewish Academy in West Bloomfield, Mich.
