Stephen D. Keppler

Director, Infrastructure at JAROS BAUM AND BOLLES

Stephen Keppler joined JB&B in 2021 as Director of Infrastructure. He brings over 30 years of career experience in the programmatic, technical, financial, development, and implementation of turnkey energy and infrastructure optimization/improvement projects in the data center, healthcare, higher education, and manufacturing vertical markets. In his current role, he is expanding and refining the firm’s infrastructure practice and optimizing coordination across JB&B’s other key existing building market sector practices. These specialty services include energy modeling and deep carbon reduction as well as field services such as commissioning, property assessments, and MEP turnkey installation services.

Over the arc of his career as an energy, environmental, and design-build professional, Mr. Keppler has acquired experience with a broad range of commercial and institutional real estate stakeholders, including developers, design teams, portfolio managers, property and facility managers, energy service companies, HVAC and control products, and maintenance industry groups, as well as tenants. He has a deep understanding of the criteria, intent, structure, and strategies behind market transformation programs and how to leverage them into project optimization planning. This is evidenced in his roles as LEED Program Director with the U.S. Green Building Council; Senior Consultant with ICF to the EPA for the Energy Star Building Label and Real Estate Management Ally Partnership programs; and fellow with DOE/FEMP supporting the Better Buildings Data Center Challenge. And in his 12 years as the owner of a sustainability/energy modeling/commissioning consulting firm, he brought his technical and programmatic knowledge together to best serve his firm’s clients and end-user stakeholders throughout the mid-Atlantic and northeast building markets.

Mr. Keppler has a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from New England College, is an AEE Certified Building Commissioning Professional, and a LEED Accredited BD+C and O+M Professional. He was also a past board member of the Design-Build Institute of America’s Maryland Chapter.
