Rowan Turkington

Senior Associate, Registered Architect at Jasmax

Rowan Turkington is a Senior Associate who specialises in complex projects on Jasmax’s Transport and Infrastructure team.

Rowan is particularly drawn to infrastructure projects, which he believes to be catalysts for the way in which people navigate and interact with cities, as well as encouraging positive growth. He works by the principle that a well-placed, thoughtfully designed infrastructure project can foster a symbiotic relationship between access, buildings, and place, whilst informing future potential.

With 12 years’ experience, Rowan has contributed to the design of some of Auckland’s most transformative transport and infrastructure projects, including Puhinui Station – a critical node connecting the airport to the southern and eastern rail network – which he hopes will influence how stations are planned moving forward, both for current requirements but also for the anticipation of future growth. Other standout schemes for Rowan include several projects at Auckland Airport (including the departures project), which he found challenging but highly rewarding, and Light Rail Reference Design – a fascinating project which could form a significant catalyst in shaping how we use and move around the city.

Rowan’s interest in architecture sparked from his love of figuring out how things work and the act of creation as a project is pieced together, as well as anticipating and planning for a dynamic future. He is a project architect with experience in delivery, documentation, detailing, design, phasing / future proofing, and consultant and client co-ordination.
