Timothy Gaburungyi

Timothy Gaburungyi has a diverse and extensive work experience in the technology and hospitality industry. Timothy started their career as an Information Technology Manager at Sheraton Deira Hotel and Towers in 1996. Timothy then worked as an Area IT Manager at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. from 1998 to 2002.

Gaburungyi then joined Hotel Grand Bretagne as a Director of Six Sigma, Black Belt from 2002 to 2004. Timothy returned to Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and held various roles, including Six Sigma Project Manager from 2004 to 2005. Timothy also worked as an IT Project Manager, New Builds & Transitions from 2005 to 2013, managing technology deployment projects worth $20 million across North America.

In 2013, they joined Javits Center as a Director Technology Solutions, where they established technical and operating standards. Timothy then became the Vice President MIS & Technology Solutions from 2015 to 2021, responsible for managing complex platforms and reducing costs while optimizing performance. Timothy is currently serving as the Senior Vice President & CIO.

Throughout their career, Gaburungyi has demonstrated expertise in technology solutions, project management, and process improvement.

Timothy Gaburungyi holds a BSc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University. Timothy also earned a Masters Certificate in Essentials of Hospitality Management from Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration in 2005. In 2010, they participated in a Project Leadership program at Cornell Executive Education. Later, in 2022, they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from thePower. Additionally, they hold certifications as a Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching (CCNA) and a Project Management Professional (PMP).
