Chief Accounting Officer at JBG SMITH

Angela Valdes is the Chief Accounting Officer at JBG SMITH. Prior to this, they served as Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer at Equity One, Inc., a publicly traded real estate investment trust, from April 2010 to March 2017. In this role, Valdes was responsible for the company's accounting and financial reporting functions, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and presentation of financial results to the Audit Committee. Angela also oversaw the annual audit of Form 10-K and quarterly reviews of Form 10-Qs conducted by a Big 4 accounting firm.

Valdes has extensive experience in real estate finance and accounting. Angela began their career as an auditor at Arthur Andersen LLP, where they worked on audits of SEC registrants in the real estate industry. Angela then moved to Deloitte & Touche LLP, where they worked on audits of REITs and other real estate entities. After several years in public accounting, Valdes transitioned to industry and has held various positions of increasing responsibility in the finance and accounting departments of real estate companies.

Angela Valdes received their Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Miami Herbert Business School. Angela is also certified as a Certified Public Accountant from both the State of Florida and State of Georgia.

They are on a team with Moina Banerjee - CFO, Carey Goldberg - CHRO, and Kai Reynolds - Chief Development Officer. Their manager is W. Matthew Kelly, CEO.
